InBody® 580 in Destin, FL

If you’re trying to build muscle, lose weight, improve your health, or simply understand what’s really going on with your body, you’re not alone. Many people feel frustrated when they rely only on weight or BMI to track progress. These numbers often fail to show the real changes happening inside. At Vivana MD in Destin, FL, we take a more complete approach. We offer InBody® 580 Body Composition Analysis, a quick, non-invasive scan that goes far beyond the scale. It delivers in-depth data on your muscle mass, fat distribution, visceral fat, water balance, and metabolic rate.

Our board-certified obesity medicine specialist, Dr. Svetlana Hanson, personally interprets each scan to help you make decisions based on facts, not guesses. You’ll leave with a plan tailored to your body, your needs, and your goals. We believe that better health starts with better information, and we’re here to help guide you every step of the way.

Benefits of InBody® 580:

Frequently Asked Questions

Including the consultation and review with Dr. Hanson, your full appointment will usually last between 20 and 30 minutes. You’ll receive your results right away and can discuss next steps during the same visit.

InBody® 580 uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), which is widely known as a safe procedure for measuring body composition. There is no radiation, no discomfort, and no downtime involved.

To ensure accurate results, avoid eating or drinking for at least two hours before your appointment. Refrain from exercising 6–12 hours before and use the restroom just before the scan. Wear comfortable, light clothing and remove shoes and socks.

Most patients benefit from scans every 4–6 weeks, depending on their health goals. This allows you and your provider to monitor trends and adjust your plan effectively. Frequent monitoring keeps your care personalized and proactive.

Visceral fat is the fat stored around our internal organs in the abdominal cavity. Unlike subcutaneous fat, visceral fat can increase your risk of metabolic conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure. The InBody® 580 identifies this fat level so it can be addressed early through targeted changes.

The scan includes your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), a unit that tells you how many calories your body burns at rest. This figure is helpful for meal planning and weight management when used alongside activity level and dietary goals.

Traditional scales only measure weight, and BMI does not distinguish between fat and muscle. InBody® 580 shows exactly what your body is made of, so you can track fat loss, muscle gain, and hydration—giving a more meaningful picture of your health.

InBody® 580 is often used alongside medical weight loss programs to track fat loss and muscle retention. Dr. Hanson uses these results to fine-tune your strategy and ensure you’re losing weight in a healthy, sustainable way.

After your scan, Dr. Hanson will review the results with you in detail. Together, you’ll discuss what the data means and how it can support your goals. From there, a personalized plan can be created or updated based on the findings.
